Tampa Smokers cigars celebrate two of America’s historic traditions: baseball and cigars. A century ago, Tampa was known as the Fine Cigar Capital of the World. At its peak, Tampa’s 200 cigar factories handcrafted more than 700 million cigars per year. Founded in 1919, Tampa Smokers was the first professional baseball team in Tampa.

Tampa Smokers cigars are hand rolled in J.C. Newman’s El Reloj cigar factory in Tampa in two sizes: a 6″x 52 toro and a uniquely shaped 7″ baseball bat. A single master cigar roller handcrafts Tampa Smokers cigars with an Ecuadorian Shade wrapper, Connecticut Broadleaf binder and Latin American filler tobaccos.

BASEBALL TEAM
In 1919, Tampa’s local baseball team was named the Tampa Smokers to celebrate its place in Cigar City. This historic 1947 team photo of the Tampa Smokers captures a defining era in Tampa’s rich sports and cigar heritage, where baseball and cigars went hand in hand. Many famous athletes played for the Tampa Smokers, including Hall-of-Famer Al Lopez, born to cigar workers.
