In May 1895, company founder Julius C. Newman personally delivered his first order of 500 cigars to a neighborhood grocery store. Since then, our family has been committed to supporting local brick-and-mortar retailers. We have proudly sold cigars to our longest-standing customer continuously since 1898. Since it was established in 1997, Cigar Aficionado has inducted 23 people into its Cigar Hall of Fame. Second-generation owner Stanford J. Newman was a member of the inaugural Hall of Fame class, and third-generation owner Eric Newman was inducted in 2022. The Fuentes, Newmans, and Padrons are the only three families with multiple members in the Cigar Hall of Fame.
